What to Do While You Wait

If you've had a blowout or sudden tyre failure, your safety is the priority. Follow these steps while we're on our way to you.

Switch on hazard lights immediately
As soon as you notice a tyre failure, turn on your hazard warning lights to alert other road users. Do this before anything else.

Move to a safe position
If at all possible, steer the vehicle to the hard shoulder, a layby, or a side road. Avoid stopping in a live lane of traffic. Keep steering gently - do not brake sharply.

Get behind the barrier or away from the road
Once stopped, exit the vehicle via the passenger-side door if possible and move behind the barrier or as far from traffic as safely allows. Do not stand between your vehicle and oncoming traffic.

Put on a high-visibility vest
If you carry one, put on your hi-vis vest before leaving the vehicle. It significantly increases your visibility to passing drivers, especially at night or in poor weather.
